Donald Wayne ‘Don’ Hanks

The funeral for Donald Wayne “Don” Hanks, 58, of Athens, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home with Dusty McLemore and Rex Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Hanks died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Huntsville Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1949, in Flint, Mich. He was raised in Limestone County by James and Nona Hanks. He was a member of Lindsey Lane Baptist Church. He worked for the City of Athens as an equipment operator for many years. Don was loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Hanks of Athens; three daughters, Renee Amerson of Harvest, Andrea Ellis of Hartselle and Rita Chambers of Athens; two sons, Scotty Wayne Hanks of Florida and Ashford Hanks of Athens; one brother, Carl Hanks of Athens; seven grandchildren; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jason Haggard, Joseph Sanders, Michael Jones, Michael Cottles, Devin Bryant, Mike Gaines, Benny Cottles and David Martin.
Members of the Athens Street and Sanitation Department will be honorary pallbearers.
