Pauline Craig Britton

The funeral for Pauline Craig Britton, 87, of Athens will be at 1 p.m. today at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Everett Conn officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in O’Neal Cemetery.

Mrs. Britton died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Limestone Health Facility.

She was born Jan. 6, 1920, to Mack Craig and Lily Hill Craig in Limestone County. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Alfred Britton; and one daughter, Doris Evelyn Boyd. She was a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Gerald W. Boyd and wife Juanita of Pulaski, Tenn.; three daughters, Peggy Jones of Huntsville, Brenda Gail Eubanks and husband John of Athens and Shirley Ann Draper and husband Greg of Athens; one sister, Nellie Birdsong of Athens; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Power, Allen Boyd, Gary Boyd, Jonathan Hudson, Robert Briglio, and David Hargrove.



Mollie H. Davis

The funeral for Mollie H. Davis, 85, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cairo United Methodist Church with the Rev. Louis Johnson and the Rev. Bill Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at McConnell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Davis died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Huntsville Hospital.

She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Limestone County to John Robert Hardaway and Mary Coleman Hardaway. She worked for Athens Pharmacy for 43 years. She was a lifelong member of Cairo United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave E. Davis; and her brother, Wallace Hardaway.

She is survived by one son, Robert J. Davis and wife Jean of Athens; two granddaughters, Lisa Holland and Phyllis Grela, both of Athens; four great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Miladean Slaughter and Ruby Jean Ezell, both of Elkmont.

Pallbearers will be Mike Ezell, Brian Pinkerton, Jimmy White, Ben Grela, Brett Hogan and Butch Cook.

Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Maund, Allen Davis, Garth Davis, James Case and Claudie Joe Davis.

Mary Violet Gilliam Lea

The graveside service for Mary Violet Gilliam Lea, 93, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Limestone Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Bassham officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at McConnell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lea died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Limestone Health Facility.

She was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Hillsboro, Tenn., in Coffee County to Milton Lyda Gilliam and Rhoda Marlowe Gilliam. She moved to Bridgeport, Ala., as a young girl, where she married James Woodrow Lea Sr. on July 25, 1936. They lived in Bridgeport until 1958, when they moved to Athens. Mrs. Lea was retired from Brown Stove Co. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Woodrow Lea Sr.; five sisters; and one brother.

She is survived by one daughter, Judy Richeson and husband Pete of Guntersville; one son, James Woodrow Lea Jr. and wife Julie of Athens; three grandchildren, James Jeffrey Richeson and wife Laura of Madison, Robin R. Colter and husband Steve of Birmingham, and Amy R. Hall and husband Scott of Guntersville; and six great-grandchildren.
