Mary Magdalene Frix

The funeral for Mary Magdalene “Maggie” Frix, 74, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McConnell Funeral Home with David Carpenter and Ron Oakley officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Frix died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Athens Convalescent Center.

She was born July 29, 1933, in Gadsden to Lee Espy and Mary Duke Espy. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She worked for 13 years at Athens State University as a PBX operator.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lee Edwin Espy; and her granddaughter, Nancy Lovett.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon W. Frix of Athens; daughters, Sherry Sanders and husband James, and Gina Lovett and husband Joe, all of Athens; her mother-in-law, Mae Frix of Gadsden; her brother, Tom Espy and wife Ann of Oxford; her sister, Anne Witherspoon and husband George of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bob Vaughn, Lowell Smith, Harold Meals, Ewell Smith, Wesley Brown and Lewell Smith.



Josephine Wilson Lewter

A memorial service for Josephine Wilson Lewter, 71, of Athens will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Larry Bishop officiating.

Mrs. Lewter died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Huntsville Hospital.

Roosevelt L. Madkin

The funeral for Roosevelt L. Madkin, 47, of Huntsville will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Morris Chapel Primitive Church with Elder Robert Leslie officiating. Burial will be in Meadowlawn Garden of Peace with Royal Funeral Home in Huntsville directing.

Mr. Roosevelt died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at Huntsville Hospital.



Riahona Dara Marshall

The funeral for infant Riahona Dara Marshall will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Royal Funeral Home in Huntsville with Dr. O. Wendell Davis officiating. The infant died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007.



Claude William Springer

The funeral for Claude William Springer, 79, of Athens will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Charlie McAdams officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Point Cemetery.

Visitation will be at noon Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Claude died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Born Aug. 25, 1928, in Limestone County, he was a retired auto-body repairman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Claudean Kendall of Madison; two brothers, James Larry Springer of South Alabama and John Dewey Springer of Lester; one sister, Margie Coleman of Athens; two granddaughters, Sarah Kendall of Madison and Annie Marie Thigpen of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
