Alma Lorene Lemmons Pearson

The funeral for Alma Lorene Lemmons Pearson, 73, of Athens, will be at 9 a.m., Thursday, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pearson died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at home.

Mrs. Pearson was a member of the Church of Christ and the homemakers club.

She is survived by her husband, Billy J. Pearson of Athens; one daughter, Patty Sue Ford and husband Morris W. of Birmingham; one son, Jack D. Pearson of Harvest; one brother, Audron (Sonny) Lemmons and wife Ollivia of Paragould, Ark.; one sister, Sylvia (Babe) Harris and husband Jess of Paragould; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.



Timothy Lynn Russell

The funeral for Timothy Lynn Russell, 48, of Athens, formerly of Florence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Hubert Sims officiating. Burial will be in Sylone Cemetery in Ardmore.

Mr. Russell died Monday, July 30, 2007, at home.

Mr. Russell was born June 22, 1959 in Lauderdale County. He was a former employee of Brookshire Healthcare in Huntsville.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Reba Cross Russell; one daughter, Nicole Russell; and one brother, Charles T. Russell.

He was survived by his wife, Brenda Russell of Athens; two sons, Shayne Russell, Bryant Russell, both of Greenhill; three daughters, Chassity Woods of Florence, Jennifer Beach, Tina Beach, both of Athens; his father, Clarence Russell of Florence; two brothers, Scotty Russell, Rickey Russell and wife Brenda, all of Florence; two sisters, Fran Simmons and husband Tommy, Deonna Russell, all of Florence; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Russell Simmons, Chris Rusell, Chad Russell, Wayne Watkins, Jerry Watkins, and William Carter.







Margaret Ann Johnston Shaw

Margaret Ann Johnston Shaw died Friday, July 27, 2007, in Birmingham, Ala. Ann was born Jan. 10, 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Poellnitz Johnston, her brother Henry Poellnitz Johnston, Jr., her daughter Jerolyn Louise Shaw, her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Ball Feagin Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Poellnitz Johnston II. She is survived by her husband Marvin Wesley “Mike” Shaw Jr., daughter Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Shaw of Beaufort, South Carolina, and son Marvin Wesley “Wes” Shaw III of Birmingham. Other survivors include brothers-in-law Pierce Jackson “Jack” Shaw and wife Debbie of Nashville, Tenn., and Richard Leon “Rick” Shaw of Pensacola, Fla., and niece and nephew Kristen Elizabeth Shaw and Pierce Jackson Shaw Jr. of Nashville. A native of Birmingham, Ann lived in Beaufort, S.C., for more than 12 years before returning to Birmingham in 2006.

She graduated from Brooke Hill School in Birmingham; attended Auburn University, where she was affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority; and graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Ann was a member of the Service Guild of Birmingham. In Beaufort, Ann and Mike were members of Saint Helena’s Episcopal Church, where Ann established the church’s bookstore and remained active in its work until returning to Birmingham. An avid golfer, Ann was a beloved member of The Ladies Golf Association of the Country Club of Birmingham and she was instrumental in the establishment of the first ladies golf association at Bray’s Island Plantation, near Beaufort. A memorial service will be held at The Cathedral Church of the Advent, 2017 Sixth Avenue North, Birmingham on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama, P. O. Box 531225, Birmingham, Ala., 35253; Saint Helena’s Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 1043, Beaufort, S.C. 29902; the Cathedral Church of the Advent, 2017 Sixth Avenue North, Birmingham, Ala., 35203; or a charity of your choice.
