Elizabeth Townsend Anderson

Graveside services for Elizabeth Anderson, 86, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with Dr. Terry Greer and Burt Anderson officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Anderson died Tuesday, June 19, 2007.

Mrs. Anderson was born July 31, 1920, in Decatur. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur. She was a past president of Decatur Junior League and was instrumental in founding The Decatur Boys and Girls Club. She was also a member of the Decatur Cotillion and the Decatur Bowling Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert W. Anderson; and her parents, John Owen and Emma Newton Townsend.

She is survived by two sons John Walton “Andy” Anderson of Elkmont, Jack Talbot Anderson of Decatur; six grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Burt Talbot Anderson, Gregory Len Anderson, Jack Talbot Anderson Jr., Ben Walton Anderson, John Walton Anderson Jr. and Robert Owen Anderson.



Retha Harber Heard

The funeral for Retha Harber Heard, 51, of Toney will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Ardmore with the Rev. Mike Clark and Chris Hester officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Heard died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at her home.



Lynda Jean Roberson

The funeral for Lynda Jean “Jeannie” Roberson, 48, of Athens will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Ardmore Memorial Chapel with Joel Logan and Dwight Raburn officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Roberson died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at her residence.

Mrs. Roberson was born March 16, 1959, in Athens. She lived all her life in the North Alabama area. She was a member of the Baptist faith. She was an avid reader and very passionate about the nursing profession.

She was preceded in death by “Mom and Dad,” Leon “Bootie” and Marie Mitchell.

She is survived by her mother, Linda Faye Perry of Erin, Tenn.; one son, Lance Pitts and wife Mary of Toney; four brothers, Johnny Roberson of Newport, Tenn., Lonnie Dale Mitchell and wife Shirley, Harold Richard Mitchell and wife Gloria, all of Ardmore, and Marshall Mitchell and wife Donnie of Athens; and two sisters, Kathy Manning of Lebanon, Tenn., and Leonette Elkins and husband Larry of Ardmore.



Betty Jean Stinnett

Mrs. Betty Jean Stinnett, 76, of Madison died Thursday, June 19, 2007, in Huntsville. Mrs. Stinnett was born in Indiana and has been a resident of Limestone and Madison counties for 70 years. She was a member of Maple Grove Church and had retired from Parker Haffin after 15 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Stinnett was preceded in death by her husband, Joe T. Stinnett; and one brother, Harlon Towe.

Mrs. Stinnett is survived by two sons, Joe and Judy Stinnett of Huntsville, and John and Sandy Stinnett of Trinity; one daughter, Sonja and Linwood Mass of Huntsville; two brothers, Elbert and Beulah Towe Jr. of Madison, and Billy Joe and Fay Towe of Greenbrier; two sisters, Velma Jones of Shelbyville, Tenn., and Katherine and Ransom Haney of Tanner; four sisters-in-law, Sue Towe of Madison, Mildred and Blair Greene of Hazel Green, Ann and Gene Jett of Huntsville, and Pearline and Edward Stafford of Park City, Tenn.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Madison Chapel Funeral Home with a chapel service at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens. Madison Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
