Sarah Christine Tarpley Corder

The funeral for Sarah Christine Tarpley Corder, 98, of Lester will be at 4 p.m. today at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Greg Chandler officiating. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Corder died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Limestone Health Facility in Athens.

She was born Jan. 11, 1909, in Giles County, Tenn., to Elmo Tarpley and Ella Oaks Peden Tarpley. She was a member of Craig Chapel Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Earl Corder.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Members of the Craig Church of Christ will be pallbearers. Wilson Corder and R.M. Daniel will be honorary pallbearers.



James Loyd ‘Buck’ Yant

The funeral for James Loyd “Buck” Yant, 61, of the Elkton, Tenn., will be at 1 p.m. today at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home with Joe Greer officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery in Elkton, Tenn.

Mr. Yant died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

He was a member of Elkton Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Mary Hill Yant; two sisters, Betty Mae Walden and Mary Ruth Newton; and one brother, John Robert Yant.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Williams Yant of Elkton, Tenn.; two daughters, Teresa Kay Smith of Elkton and Lisa Mae Carrillo of Franklin, Tenn.; four granddaughters, Katelyn Brymer and Taylor Brymer of Elkton, and Isabell Carrillo and Ashlyn Carrillo of Franklin; four sisters, Mattie Lou Davis and husband Sonny of Elkton, Barbara Gammon of Antioch, Tenn., Fannie Rolin of Ardmore, Ala., and Emily Billings and husband Ted of Blanche, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
