Hollis Herbert Chittam

The funeral for Hollis Herbert Chittam, 77, of Athens will be at 7 p.m. Friday at West Hobbs Street Church of Christ with Bill Irby, Mike Nix and James Bridges officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing. The family will have a private burial service at Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

Mr. Chittam died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at his residence. He was a longtime member and elder of West Hobbs Street Church of Christ and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Case Chittam of Athens; one daughter, Renee Murley and husband Craig of Jackson, Tenn.; two sons, Don Chittam and wife Beth of Hartselle and Neil Chittam and wife Peggy of Athens; five grandchildren, Jay Chittam, Christy Boggs, Casie Chittam, Carrie Chittam and Will Murley; two great-grandchildren, Abby Boggs and Andrew Boggs; seven sisters, Sarah McElyea of Athens, Ocile Jenkins of Athens, Myrion Babcock of Beloit, Wis., Ann Barton of Chattanooga, Tenn., Judy Winter of Greenbush, Mich., Nancy McDonald of Royal Oak, Mich., and Marsha Harris of Madison Heights, Mich.; one brother, Mike Chittam of Troy, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mark Chittam, Joey Chittam, Phillip Ferguson, Larry Chittam, Larry Black, Jim McElyea, Jack Baugh, Larry Thornton and Stan Hogan. Elders of West Hobbs Street Church of Christ will be honorary pallbearers.

Jo Ann Howard

The graveside service for Jo Ann Howard, 51, of Athens will be at 1 p.m. today at Antioch Cemetery with Daniel Rogers officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Howard died Monday, May 14, 2007, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 25, 1955 in Michigan and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her mother, Doris Trousdale of Athens; three daughters, Ashley Howard of Tanner, Tammy Thomas of Athens and Patricia Dollman of Harvest; two sons, Tim Howard of Tanner and Anthony Howard of Harvest; three sisters, Brenda Jensen of Huntsville, Betty Thomas of Athens and Vickie McGee of Elkmont; three brothers, Billy King of Athens, Larry King of Athens and Glen King of Gurley; five grandchildren, Amber Dollman, Brooklyn Dollman, Austin Mathis, Tabitha Draper and Sean Howard; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Howard, Ryan Weese, Wayne Thomas, Austin Mathis, John Dilworth and Glen Trousdale.

John Roland Mitchell, 93, of Athens died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Huntsville Hospital. Spry Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
