Second Publix to locate on County Line Road in southeastern Limestone

The area will be getting another Publix supermarket in the next year, according to a company spokeswoman.

Brenda Reid in the company’s Atlanta office confirmed that a site had been selected for a new store on County Line and Browns Ferry roads, Madison-annexed portions of eastern Limestone County.

This is the second Publix announcement to come in less than a month. It was learned last month that a 46,000-square-foot Publix market would be built in developer Bill Ming’s East Side Junction at the northeast quadrant of U.S. 72 and Lindsay Lane.

“The store at County Line and Brown Ferry Road will be 54,000 square feet,” Reid said. “The construction process is not far enough along to set a target date for opening,” she said. “Usually, once ground is moved, it takes about 10 months to build.”

The construction of the new Publix will bring to three the number of stores within 15 miles of Athens.
