Michael Dean Enskat

Michael Dean Enskat, 59, of Athens died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at HealthSouth Rehab. There will be no funeral service. Spry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Virginia Garrett

The funeral for Virginia Cumming Garrett, 82, of Belle Mina will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Terry Greer officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home of Decatur directing.

Visitation will be from 1p.m. to 2 p.m. today in the church parlor.

Mrs. Garrett died Monday, April 9, 2007, at her home.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur, the Stephens Chapter of DAR, the Hugenot Society of the Mankin of Virginia, Clan Cumming Society and a volunteer at Decatur General Hospital since 1986.

Survivors include her husband, Edmond Garrett Jr.; two sons, Edmond Garrett III and John P. Garrett; and two grandchildren, Eddie Garrett and Ginny Garrett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Decatur or Hospice of Limestone County.



Arthur Wayne Sandlin

The funeral for Arthur Wayne Sandlin, 62, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Burt Wilson and Buc Chumbley officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight.

Mr. Sandlin died Monday, April 9, 2007, at his home.

He was a member of Westview Church of Christ and retired from the Alabama National Guard after 32 years of service. Mr. Sandlin was a longtime painter and carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Athelene Sandlin; one sister, Mary Martha Newby; and one brother, Robert Sandlin.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Mitchell Sandlin of Athens; one son, Chris Sandlin and wife Wendy of Alabaster; one daughter, Summer Sandlin of Athens; two grandchildren, Caleb Sandlin and Harper Sandlin; four sisters, Ruth Cain, Nella Dean McKee, Jane Beddingfield and Caro-Lyn McAllister, all of Athens; two brothers, Tommy Sandlin of Elkhart, Ind., and George Sandlin of Elkmont; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Bullington, Tony Andrews, Larry Tucker, Sam King, Hubert Chittam and Marvin Whitt.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or the American Cancer Society.



Carter Stephen Slone

The funeral for infant Carter Stephen Slone, son of Stephen Michael Slone and Courtney Lynn Kennedy of Athens, will be 11 a.m. today at Spry Funeral Home with John Ryberg officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.

The infant died Friday, April 6, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
