Virginia Dollar

Virginia Dollar, 70, of Athens, died Wednesday, March 29, 2007, at her residence. Arrangements will be announced at a later date by Spry Funeral Home.



Donald Wayne “Punkin” Jarrett Jr.

The funeral for Donald Wayne “Punkin” Jarrett Jr., 29, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McConnell Funeral Home with Bro. Doug McCurry and LaDon Emerson officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Jarrett died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at his residence.

Mr. Jarrett was born April 29, 1977, in Chicago, Ill., to Donald Wayne Jarrett Sr. and Donna Jean Jarrett. He worked with his father at Jarrett Automotive as a mechanic. Punkin was a loving husband and good father and was loved by all.

“Gone but not forgotten, back in his mother’s arm.”

Punkin was preceded in death by his mother Donna Jean Jarrett; his grandparents Lois Sawyer, Carl Jarrett, and Birdie Jarrett.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal Jarrett of Athens; two sons, Donald Wayne Jarrett III, Donavan Eugene Jarrett, both of Athens; his father, Donald “Donnie” Wayne Jarrett Sr. of Athens; his step-mother, Terry Lee Jarrett of Athens; four sisters, Michelle, Brenda Laura and Christy; three brothers, Glenn, Randall, and Ernest; two brother-in-laws, Tim Hargrove of Elkmont and Kirby of Anderson; one sister-in-law, Sonya Cash of Decatur; and 14 nieces and nephews.



Wilonese Bryan Prescott

The funeral for Wilonese Bryan Prescott, 81, of Market St., Athens, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Prescott died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Athens Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Prescott was born July 6, 1925, to Nelson Marion and Bessie Lee Pierce Bryan in Wilmer, Ala. She lived in the Limestone County area for the past 14 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Joy Barrett, Brenda Gail Greene, both of Elkmont; four sons, John Kent Prescott of Commerce, Ga., Paul Bryan Prescott, James Noel Prescott both of McEwen, Tenn., Stephen Lee Prescott of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles Aubrey Bryan, David Marion Bryan, both of Mobile; one sister, Mary Louise Cowen, of Mobile; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.



Charlie Lee Stanford

The funeral for Charlie Lee Stanford, 81, of Athens, will be at 4 p.m. Friday at McConnell Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Craft officiating. Burial will be in Legg Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Stanford died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Stanford was born March 20, 1926, in Limestone County to John Henry Stanford and Clara Jenkins Stanford. He was an army veteran of WWII and he worked as a carpenter in Athens and Limestone County.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Jean Stanford; and a daughter, Brenda K. Stanford.

He is survived by four daughters, Judy Dison of Elkmont, Linda Putman, Dana Marinelarena, Regina Chamber, all of Athens; two sons, Rickey Stanford, and Rick Jackson, both of Athens; one brother, Billy Stanford of Lester; one sister, Agnes Tennison of Athens; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Calvin Stanford, Dennis Stanford, Danny Stanford, Davey Stanford, Kevin Stanford, and Torrey Putman.
