Cathleen Carey Allen

Cathleen Carey Allen, 87, passed away Jan. 29, 2007, in Sun City, Ariz.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Harry Moore Allen and granddaughter Elizabeth O’Neal Allen. She is survived by son Steve Allen of Birmingham, Ala., and daughter Lynette Jacker of Glendale, Ariz.; her granddaughters, Susan Smith, Ginny Tucker, Cathleen Jensen, Lisa Murphy and Patricia Condra; great-grandchildren, Chamblee Smith, Mary Catherine Smith, Michael Tucker, Sam Tucker, Nathan Jensen and Megan Cathleen Murphy.

She was born in Buena Vista, Tenn., and met her husband Harry while attending college in Athens, Ala. They married in 1938 and remained there where she worked as office manager and accountant-bookkeeper for Burgreen Contracting Co. She lived life to the fullest, loved to travel, dance and fly small planes. A friend of the poor and needy, she was always ready to help in times of crisis. Upon retirement, she and Harry, ever the adventurers, traveled the United States and Canada for eight years, settling in Flagler Beach, Fla. After Harry’s death in 1992, she moved to Arizona to be with family.

Memorial services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Paradise Sunset Chapel, 3934 East Indian School Road in Phoenix, Ariz.



Julie Brown

The funeral for Julie Brown, 46, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Donald Terry officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown died Wednesday, Jan. 31, at her residence.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.



Dorothy Mae Hargrove

The funeral for Dorothy Mae Hargrove, 66, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Joel Logan officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hargrove died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
