Clements holds on in OT

COXEY – Clements was able to overcome a second half run by West Limestone as the Colts knocked off the Wildcats 79-70 in overtime Friday night in boys basketball action.

The win was Clements (5-6,1-2) first in Class 3A, Area 15.

The Colts dashed out to an early 37-30 lead in the first half, but the Wildcats (5-5,1-2) battled back in the third period. West Limestone trailed 41-40 going into the fourth period.

“We came out strong early,” Clements coach Brian Gafford said. “But Zane Campbell got hot for them and they fought their way back into the ball game.”

In over time, Cody Arnold made six free throws and Blake Moore made three jump shots to guide Clements to the win.

Arnold led all scorers with 31 points. He made 11 of 14 free throws in the game.

Blake Moore added 23 points for the Colts, while Sean Bachelor scored 12 points and O’Neal Vance added eight points. Moore also pulled down 10 rebounds.

Zane Campbell led West Limestone with 24 points. Travis Johnston added 13 points, while Darrius Smith and Jordan Oles scored 10 points each.

Elkmont 40, Ardmore 65

Ardmore picked up a win over Elkmont Friday night.

Tom Logan led the Red Devils with 15 points while Jonathan Carter added 8. Brandon Soloman led the team with 12 rebounds.

The Tigers will take on Priceville Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Tanner 90, Falkville 54

Demarcus King led Tanner with 19 points in their win over Falkville Friday night.

Rod Byrd added 14 points for the Rattlers while Latraius Mosley had 13 points. Matt Smith added nine points, while Clay McMeans scored 7 points and had 10 rebounds. Heath Alford led Falkville with 22 points and 8 rebounds.

Tanner (8-2) will host Austin tonight at 7 p.m.

Varsity Girls

East Limestone 56, Decatur Heritage 39

The Lady Indians had three players score in double figures Friday night in their win over Decatur Heritage.

Danielle Jefferson led East Limestone with 22 points. Ebony McCrary contributed with 15 while Emily Brackeen added 12 points and 20 rebounds.

Candace Lee led Decatur Heritage with 17 points. The Lady Indians will take on West Limestone tonight at 6 p.m.

Clements, 55, West Limestone, 47

Jordan Beggs led Clements with 21 points, followed by Lecresha Petty with 18. Elizabeth Dison put up 21 points for the Wildcats.

Clements plays Decatur Heritage Tuesday night. West Limestone plays Ardmore.
