Two more people have been arrested in connection with six recent burglaries in southwest Limestone County.

Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely said Manuel Romero Mendoza, 18, of 302 Hillside Road S.W., Decatur, and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested Monday night in connection with the burglaries. Investigators had earlier charged Jimmy Valldarez, 21, of the Ripley community. All three are charged with six counts of third-degree burglary each.

A week ago there were four burglaries at residences on Ripley Road, one on Zehner Road and one on Vanzile Lane. Electronic equipment, guns and other items, valued in the thousands of dollars, were stolen in the Dec. 4 nighttime break-ins.

“We recovered items at Valldarez ’s home and at the home of the 16-year-old Johnson High School student,” Blakely said. “We got with Decatur police and searched Mendoza’s home in Decatur. We didn’t find any of the stuff that was stolen here, but found some items that were stolen in Decatur. ”

Valldarez was maintaining that other people committed the burglaries and he was only storing the items at his house, Blakely said.

Among the items stolen were a Remington, model 1100, 12-gauge shotgun; cash; collectible toy cars; DVDs and computer equipment .
