Leona Miller Peek

The funeral for Leona Miller Peek, 91, of Athens will be 11 a.m. Monday at Spry Funeral Home with Donald Terry officiating.

Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Peek died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

She was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Limestone County. She was a member of Truth Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Josephine Green and husband, Tom, of Athens; a son, Marvin Miller and wife, Carolyn, of Athens; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.



Buford ‘Booty’ Sanderson

The funeral for Buford Donald “Booty” Sanderson, 76, of Capshaw will be 11 a.m. Monday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Norm Webb Sr., Everett Conn and Don Osborne officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Sanderson died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

He was a member of Capshaw Church of Christ and an Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Beulah Sanderson; four brothers, Rowe Sanderson, M.L. Sanderson, Bryant “Jabo” Sanderson and James T. Sanderson, and one sister, Ilene Balch Mann.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Schaub Sanderson of Capshaw; three sisters, Susie Seiro of Huntsville, Reba Walton of San Antonio, Texas, and Shelby Jean Scott of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Roger Sanderson, John Davidson, Neal Davidson, Pete Hardaway, Bill Ulrich and Tim Smith.

Betty Thompson Swinea

The funeral for Betty Thompson Swinea, 67, of Tullahoma, Tenn., will be 1 p.m. Monday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Private burial service will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Swinea died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Gladys Thompson; a grandson, Matt Swinea; and two brothers, Leo Thompson and Donald Thompson.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Don Swinea of Cadiz, Ky., and Mickey Dale Swinea of Somerville; two daughters, Cynthia Swinea Smith of Hartselle and Dana Carol Swinea Jessop of Tullahoma; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Swinea, Janna Swinea, Joshua F. Smith, Joseph A. Smith, Sara Swinea, Elizabeth Swinea and Emily Taylor Jessop; five brothers, Thomas Thompson of Lancaster, Calif., and Douglas Thompson, Glendall Thompson, Leatus Thompson and Kenneth Neil Thompson, all of Athens; two sisters, Margaret Noblitt of Huntsville and Judy Davis of Elkmont; and several nieces and nephews.



David Louie Turner

The funeral for David Louie Turner, 65, of Elkmont will be 2 p.m. Monday at Spry Funeral Home with Wayne Kent officiating.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Turner died Friday, Dec. 1, at his home.

He was born June 17, 1941, in Limestone County. He was a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church and was retired from Martin Industries.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Turner of Elkmont; a daughter, Patricia Holt of Decatur; two stepsons, Joe Campbell Jr. of Elkmont and Tim Hargrove of Athens; two brothers, Howard Turner of Fayetteville, N.C., and Buddy Turner of Ardmore, Tenn.; four sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Elkton, Tenn., Linda Mitchell of Ardmore, and Susie Haggard and Nancy Haggard, both of Toney; three grandchildren, Chelsey Hargrove of Elkmont and Morgan Hargrove and Haley Hargrove, both of Athens; and three step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Burlon Smith, Sanford Irvin, Bobby Brown, Larry Knight, Tony Durham, Michael Durham and Stevie Durham.



David Ulrich

The funeral for David Ulrich, 83, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McConnell Funeral Home with David Carpenter officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Ulrich died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Sunbridge Care in Ardmore, Tenn.

He was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Athens to Herman Ulrich and Mary Louise Collier Ulrich. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was involved in the senior citizen center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Phillip Ulrich, Edward Ulrich, Louis Ulrich and Frank Ulrich.

Survivors include his foster sister, Audrey Compton of Athens; six cousins and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lowell Smith, Lewell Smith, Don Wallace, Don Porter and Harold Meals.
