Ella Edna Boyd
The funeral for Ella Edna Boyd, 87, of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Don Osborne, Doug Matlock and Buc Chumbley officiating. Burial will be in Dement Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Boyd died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006.
She was born May 6, 1919, in Limestone County. She was a member of Westview Church of Christ and had retired from Athens Bible School.
She was preceded in death by husband Fred Elmer Boyd and sister Anna Hagood Thornton.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol Boyd Johnson of Athens; two sons, Ronald Boyd and his wife Linda, Marty Boyd and his wife Eunice, all of Athens; three sisters, Grace Boyd of Athens, Elise Bridges of Florence, and Robbie Romine of Athens; one brother, Billy Joe Legg and his wife Ruth of Athens; eight grandchildren, Michelle Buckelew and her husband Dale, Ron Boyd Jr., Amy Boyd, Nikki Peacock, and Shannon Westbrook and her husband Mike, all of Athens, Patrick Boyd and his wife Sara of Rogersville, Renee Tanner and her husband Brian of Orlando, Fla., and Sonya Davis of Pulaski, Tenn.; 12 great-grandchildren, Jonathan Buckelew and his wife Leah of Athens, Nina Buckelew serving in the U.S. Army in Kuwait, Ethan Buckelew of Athens, Brandi Miller of Pulaski, Bailee Miller of Pulaski, Jack Boyd of Rogersville, Gabriella Roberts of Charlotte, N.C., Lindsey Westbrook of Athens, Carson Kennedy of Athens; one great-grandchild Leason Buckelew of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearer will be Danny Hagood, Mike Carter, Byron Romine, Oneal Boyd, Greg Legg, and Joey Bridges.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
Junior Long
The funeral for Junior Long, 82, of Belle Mina, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at McConnell Funeral Home, with Cecil Norman and Ricky Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Long died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital.
Mr. Long was born March 10, 1924, in Limestone County to Dimps Long Sr., and Belle Cowan Long. He was a member of Greenbrier Baptist Church. Brother Long was instrumental in starting several churches in the North Alabama area, including the Holt Baptist Church. He also ministered in the North Alabama area for over 30 years, of which 16 years was a full time bus ministry. He also worked at the Limestone Farmers Co-Op for 32 years.
He is survived by one son, Wayne Long and his wife Connie of Huntsville; one daughter Diane Cottles and her husband, Larry, of Madison; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Wallace, David Wilson, V. L. Turner, Bobby Brown, Delbert Cottles, and Aaron Cottles.
Honorary pallbearer will be Ollie Adams.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Greenbrier Baptist Church located at 7939 Greenbrier Road, Madison, Ala., 35756.
Sarah Elizabeth Wright
The funeral for Sarah Elizabeth Wright, 80, of Athens, was Nov. 28 at 7 Mile Post Road Church of Christ with Dwight Ridinger and Joey Curtis officiating. Burial was in Limestone Memorial Gardens. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home took care of the arrangements.
Mrs. Wright died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at her residence.
She was a member of 7 Mile Post Road Church of Christ. She was a retired 20-year employee of the Kroger Co. where she served as head cashier for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elgie Wright; one son, Buddy Wright; her parents, Henry and Myrtle Birdwell; two brothers, Buck Birdwell and Junior Birdwell; and one sister, Olivia Vaughn.
She is survived by four daughters, Dewanda Chambers and her husband James, Sherry McElyea and her husband Bill, Kathy Evans and her husband Donnie, all of Athens, Jeanna Cooter and her husband Billy of Deltona, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Glena Cole and her husband Michael of Ardmore, Carole Goode and her husband Terry of Athens, Cheryl Payne and her husband John of Sommerville, Travis McElyea and his wife Daphne of Elkmont, Karen Williams and her husband Barry of Hamilton, Joey Evans, Jamie Evans, Amy Rouse and her husband Brad, all of Athens, Cameron Cooter, and Colby Cooter, both of Deltona; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wilson Birdwell of Temperance, Mich., Ed Birdwell of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sisters, Frances Birdwell, Shirley Birdwell both of Rogersville, Connie Thomas of Muscle Shoals; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Michael Cole, Travis McElyea, Joey Evans, Jamie Evans, Cameron Cooter, and Colby Cooter.
Honorary pallbearers were John Payne, Terry Goode, Barry Williams, and Brad Rouse.

Max Anthony Winter
The memorial service for Max Anthony Winter, 81, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. at Garth Chapel in Athens.
Mr. Winter died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at his home.
