ASU names Ms. Merry Christmas

Brittany Garrison of Russellville has been crowned the 2006 Ms. Merry Christmas for Athens State University.
Twelve students participated in the pageant. First runner-up was Courtney Henderson of Holly Pond. Second runner-up was Suzanne Grissom of Belgreen.
Garrison is the daughter of Joel Garrison and Michelle Malone. She transferred from Northwest Shoals Community College and is a junior majoring in elementary education. Her interests and hobbies include going to church spending time with family and friends, shopping and making scrapbooks. After finishing her bachelor’s degree at Athens State University, she plans on returning to get her master’s degree while working as an elementary school teacher.
Henderson is the daughter of Robin and Janna Henderson. She transferred from Wallace State Community College and is a junior majoring in elementary education. She is a member of the Student Government Association and was recently elected Junior Class president. She was on the 2006 Athens State University Founders Court, the Wallace State Homecoming Court and the Miss Wallace State second runner up and talent winner. Her interests are playing the piano; substitute teaching; teaching baton; reading; listening to baroque, classical and romantic piano music; crocheting and drawing. Courtney hopes to graduate summa cum laude and then work on her master’s in elementary education. After many years of teaching elementary school, she hopes to teach education courses at the Athens State University, Wallace State site.
Grissom is the daughter of Robin and Dianne Grissom. She transferred from Northwest Shoals Community College and is a junior majoring in elementary education. Suzanne enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending school, making scrapbooks and watching Auburn football. She was in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Science Club at Northwest Shoals Community College. After graduating from Athens State University, she plans to pursue a master’s degree.
