ARDMORE – With the help of some fourth quarter heroics, the Ardmore girls basketball team rallied from nine point deficit to come back and beat Elkmont 53-52 Saturday night in the Ardmore Thanksgiving Tournament.
After Courtney Pettus knocked down two three-pointers, Lauren Achley followed with two more three’s for the Tigers.
Achley then drained two clutch free throws to put Ardmore up 51-49 with less than a minute remaining.
Oliva Pressnell regained the lead for Elkmont by nailing a three-pointer of her own with 16 seconds left in regulation.
After Ardmore coach Kim Walker called timeout, Jennifer Mills knocked down an open shot on a designed play to give Ardmore a 53-52 win.
“The play was designed to get the ball to Jennifer (Mills),” Walker said. “She got an open shot and put it up.
“I wasn’t sure if it was going to fall in. It just kind of rolled around the rim for a while and then it finally fell. It was a pretty good ending to a good game.”
Achley led Ardmore with 13 points. Pettus and Mills added nine points each, while Mills scored seven points.
Bailee Robinson led all scorers with 26 points for Elkmont. Pressnell scored nine for the Red Devils.
Jamie Lack also scored four points for Elkmont.
