Local law enforcement officials expect to learn next week what caused the death of an Athens boy found dead in a house fire Nov. 17.

Luis Antonio Grave, 3, son of Juana Grave Jose and Rene Lopez of Athens, was found face down in a chair in his home after firefighters responded to a fire at a duplex at 424 Elkton St.

His body was taken to the Huntsville Forensic Lab for autopsy. Limestone County Coroner Mike West said it would be next week before the results are known.

Meanwhile, a graveside service for Luis will be at 3 p.m. today at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. today at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Juana, 22, and her brother Marselino Grave, 17, were able to save two of Juana’s other children before the A side of the wooden duplex was overrun by smoke. Marselino said the fire started in a living room light fixture.

The mother and another toddler were taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation. A 9-month-old was taken to a home about three miles away at 1001 N. Jefferson St. after being handed out a window of home during the fire.

Marselino declined to be taken to the hospital.
