Trees with family heirlooms, cowboys and denim figurines will be just some of the holiday décor on display during this year’s Elkmont Tour of Homes.
The tour is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 9, with a reception beginning at 3 p.m. in the high school lobby. Maps to the homes will be provided. Tickets are $5. The event helps the Elkmont High School Band Boosters raise money for the school band. “It’s a tradition,” said Keila Berzett, president of the Elkmont High School Band Boosters. “This will be our fifth year to do this and it is also our yearly fund-raiser.”
This year’s tour includes the following homes:
• Helen Carter of 22335 Alabama 127, Elkmont
• Marshall Taylor of 23224 Fain Road, Elkmont
• Tonnia Montgomery of 24710 Elkton Road, Elkmont
• Anita and Brian Weaver of 19454 Yarbrough Road, Athens
“There is no specific theme for the event, but people will have theme trees, “ Berzett said. The Weavers will have a traditional tree decorated with their grandmothers’ family heirlooms, and they will have other trees themed according to their children’s interests, such as cowboys.”
Montgomery is using Denim Days figurines from Home Interior and wild life figurines from the Franklin Mint. Taylor is a single man who will decorate his entire house for Christmas.
Tickets can be purchased in advance or the night of the even t. They are available from band members or by calling the band room at 732-4624 or Berzett at 423-3972.
“This is not a real big fund-raiser, but it is one the community enjoys,” Berzett said.
