Prep roundup: Ardmore overcomes big deficit for OT win

ARDMORE – The Ardmore boys basketball team overcame a 15 point deficit in the fourth quarter to knock off West Limestone 70-67 in overtime Monday night. The win was the Tigers’ first of the season.

West Limestone went into the final period of play with a commanding 43-32 lead. After the Wildcats went on a 4-0 run to start the fourth period, Ardmore began to slowly fight back until the game was tied at 58 at the end of regulation.

“That’s when we finally came to life,” Ardmore coach Mike Sanderson said. “We started to do some different things and get our post guys a little more involved. But you have to give the West Limestone guys credit. They’re one of heck of a basketball team.”

Jake Stagner led Ardmore with 14 points. He scored 13 points in the fourth period and overtime.

Will Lewis added 14 points, while Duron Robinson scored 11, Matthew Clem scored 10 and Landon Curtis scored 10 points for the Tigers.

Zane Campbell led all scorers with 22 points for West Limestone.

The Tigers hosts Richland, Tenn. is the opening game of the Ardmore Thanksgiving Tournament Friday at 10 a.m.



East Limestone63, Clements 57

East Limestone used a third period run to knock of Clements Monday night.

Mario Matthew led East Limestone with 14 points, while London Brandon scored 10 points.

Cody Arnold led all scorers with 18 points for the Colts. Blake Moore added 13 points for Clements.



Varsity girls

Clements 44, East Limestone 41

Clements picked up its first win of the season Monday night by knocking off East Limestone on the road.

The Colts (1-1) outscored East Limestone 14-5 in the final period en route to the win.

LaCresha Petty led all scorers with 23 points for Clements.

Ebony McCrary led the Indians with 14 points, while Danielle Jefferson scored 10 points for East Limestone.

Clements will play Cornersville, Tenn. Friday at 4 p.m. in the Ardmore Thanksgiving Tournament.



West Limestone 53, Ardmore 46

West Limestone girls opened its season with a win at Ardmore (0-2) Monday night.

The Wildcats (1-0) were led by Elizabeth Dison with 18 points. Savannah Smith added 11 points and Natalie Harrison scored 10 points for West Limestone.

Jennifer Mills led Ardmore with 16 points. Lauren Achley scored nine points for the Tigers.

Brittany Miles pulled down 10 rebounds for Ardmore.
