James R. Nugent
The funeral service for James R. “Jim” Nugent was Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Elkins Funeral Home East Chapel with Bob Murray and J.W. Vickers officiating.
Burial was in Harvey Cemetery.
Mr. Nugent was a retired chief master sergeant of the United States Air Force, where he served 31 years, and seven years with McDonnell Douglas in Saudi Arabia. He also served in Okinawa, Japan, Midway Island and Thailand. He was an active president in the 92nd Preventative Maintenance Squadron.
Mr. Nugent was the secretary-treasurer of the Harvey Cemetery for 17 years and a member of the United Methodist Church at Rogersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kate Nugent; son, James Randle Nugent Jr., and a daughter, Carla Joan Nugent.
Mr. Nugent is survived by his wife, Doris Bryan Nugent; son, retired chief master sergeant Mitchell D. Nugent and wife Lorraine of Yukon, Okla.; grandchildren Sean and Nicole Nugent of Yukon; nieces and nephews; a very special niece Donna Wilbanks; a special little dog, Chief.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Bryan, Kerry Bryan, Marcus Smith, Greg Palmer, Keith Cochran, and Jason Ingrum.
Honorary pallbearers were the Hannah Sunday School Class.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. David Spiegel and the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Memorials may be made to Rogersville United Methodist Church Building Fund or Hospice of the Shoals.
Robert Scott
The funeral for Robert Scott, 77, of Athens will be at 1 p.m. today at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle with the Rev. Eric Bell and the Rev. Eddie Gooch officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery.
Mr. Scott died Sunday, November 12, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born April 24, 1929, in Limestone County to the late George Robert Scott Sr. and Virgie Ruth Allred Scott. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Scott Bell and Frances E. Scott.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Pressnell Scott of Athens; three daughters, Marsha Scott Buxton of Huntsville, June Renae Scott of Athens and Rachel Scott McDonald of Hartselle; one brother, Clyde David Scott of Tuscaloosa; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Paul Buxton, Danny McCaig, Jake McCaig, Kenneth Pressnell, Harry Houston, Andrew Boyd, Jason Parker and Stephen Scott.
