Melvin Etheredge
Melvin Etheredge, 70, of Athens, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital. McConnell Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
Louise Moore Harbin
The funeral for Louise Moore Harbin, 73, of Ryland, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Pepper officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Mrs. Harbin died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006. She was born May 22, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hayse Moore and John “Doc” Harbin, a son, Jim Ed Moore, and a daughter, Barbara Louise Moore.
Survivors include one son, Johnny Max Moore and wife, Dianne; one step-son, Allen Moore; three daughters, Patricia Ann Roberts and husband, Curtis, Janice Diane Worsham and husband, Jay, and Cynthia Denise Bolton; one step-daughter, Joan Laxson; three brothers, Charlie Craig, Jimmy Garris and Maxie Lee Garris; two sisters, Corene Kreps and Lorene Campbell; seven grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Kenneth Vern Lang
Ken Lang, 74, of Tanner, died Sept. 24, 2006, at Decatur General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Robison Lang of Tanner; sister-in-law, Perlie Lang of Defiance, Ohio; stepchildren, Martin Phillips and his wife Donna of Lakeland, Fla., Elaine Hauenstein of Marietta, Ga., Lettye Baggett and her husband Bill of Cocoa Beach, Fla., John Phillips of Merritt Island, Fla.; nine grandchildren and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bernice Lang and one brother, Elmer Lang.
Ken was a Navy veteran and a member of Tanner Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Tanner Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers or plants please make memorials to the American Heart Association. Virginia Lee Martin
The funeral for Virginia Lee Martin, 79, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. today at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Junior Carter and Clayton Bunn officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Ms. Martin died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
She was born Nov. 27, 1926, to Bidley Thomas and Annie Pearl Tatum Thomas in Limestone County.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Thomas and Henry Thomas; two sisters, A.Z. Mangrum and Lura Mae Kimbrough; one son, Robert Edward Dunnavant; and husbands, Rufus Henry Dunnavant and Robert Martin.
She is survived by four sons, Rufus Charles Dunnavant, Aaron Glenn Dunnavant and Roger Dale Dunnavant, all of Athens, Douglas Ray Dunnavant of Moulton; five daughters, Barbara Ann Jarrett, Dorothy Faye Calder and Frances Marie Guffey, all of Athens, Joyce Spurgeon of Pulaski, Tenn., and Carolyn Jeanette Cowan of Courtland; 27 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Wayne Newton of Shelbyville, Tenn.; two sisters, Pauline Griggs of Pulaski, Tenn., and Glinda McAllister of Winterhaven, Fla.
Pallbearers will be Brad Dunnavant, Stacy Calder, Dwight Calder, Travis Jarrett, Kevin Adams and James Chambers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Cagle and Bobby Cagle.
Corean M. Shepherd
The funeral for Corean M. Shepherd, 87, of Ardmore, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles E. George officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Ms. Shepherd died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Winston Verlan White
The funeral for Winston Verlan White, 59, of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Jeff May officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. White died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at his home.
He was born Dec. 17, 1946, in Limestone County. He was a member of Oakland Church of Christ and retired from the United States Army in which he served in Vietnam and Korea.
He is survived by one son, Winston Verlan White Jr. of Montgomery; one daughter, Diamond Lee White of Athens; one sister Sheila Romine of Athens; one brother, Dennis Ray White of Athens; several nieces and nephews.
Members of the United States Army will be pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or the American Cancer Society.
