CLEMENTS – Before the start of football season, Clements coach Forrest Williams said Josh Cooper’s role as place-kicker would be very important.

Cooper proved his coach right in Clements’ 29-26 win Friday night by making a 39-yard field goal after time had expired to secure the victory.

Cooper has been selected The News Courier’s Crunch Player of the Week for his play Friday night. He also caught a touchdown pass in the win.

“Josh is the hero of the Clements community,” said Williams after the win. “All I wanted was a chance to win the football game in the fourth quarter and that’s what we got.

“Josh came through in a big way for us.”
