Limestone Republicans want reform on immigration

The Limestone County Republican Executive Committee approved a resolution Thursday night dealing with immigration reform.

According to the resolution, “Illegal immigrants cost Alabama taxpayers more than $112 million each year for education, health care and incarceration — not counting costs for housing assistance, food stamps, Social Security Insurance and other public assistance for the illegal families of babies born in the United States.”

Committee Chairman Jim Burden blamed Democrats for the problem.

“Republican legislators repeatedly introduce bills to combat illegal immigration in order to give Alabama taxpayers relief and to prevent further tax increases, but the Democrat majority repeatedly defeats or prevents votes on these bills.”
