Dicie Holland
Graveside service for Dicie Holland, 93, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. today at Roselawn Cemetery with Ricky Cantrell officiating.
Ms. Holland died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento.
Ruby Lynn McPherson
Ruby Lynn McPherson, 88, of Athens, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Athens Convalescent Center. Spry Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
Sydney Kathleen Norris
A private graveside service for Sydney Kathleen Norris, an infant, of Harvest, will be today at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Limestone Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
The infant died Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
She is survived by her parents, Daniel and Tandy Norris of Harvest; two brothers, Spencer Norris and Austin Norris, both of Harvest; grandparents, Russell Blackwell and Judy Blackwell, both of Tuscumbia, William Norris and Joe Ann Norris, both of Montgomery; great-grandparents, Sara Blackwell of Sheffield and Kathleen Mills of Tuscumbia.

Mary Jane Romine
Funeral for Mary Jane Romine, 88, of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Spry Funeral Home with Ron Owen and Tom Holland officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Ms. Romine died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at Limestone Health Facility.
She was born Jan. 28, 1918, in Limestone County. She as a retired nurse for Dr. John S. Crutcher and Dr. John R. Waddell Jr. She was the wife of Buford A. Romine, co-founder of the Sickcall Program, which is still airing after 53 years. She was a member of Central Church of Christ.
She is survived by four grandchildren; Larry Lee Burch, Corey Romine Hudson and Dustin Shane Hudson, all of Athens, and Matthew Shawn Hudson of Decatur; six great-grandchildren, Hayden Hudson, Will Hudson, Jessica Hudson, Caleb Hudson, Jillian Hudson and Brennan Hudson; two brothers, George Holland of Rogersville and Tom Holland of Brentwood, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband Buford A. Romine; one daughter, Jill Hudson; one son, Larry Romine; and two brothers, Noble Holland and Hillman “Scoot” Holland.
Pallbearers will be Dan Holland, Larry Burlingham, Hillman Holland, Tommy Holland, Mike Brand and Kevin Rowland.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Limestone Health Facility, Mrs. John R. Waddell Jr., and former employees of Dr. John R. Waddell Jr.
Memorials may be made to Central Church of Christ or Hospice of Limestone County.
Ret Thompson
Funeral for Ret Thompson, 21, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at 1st United Methodist Church in Scottsboro with Spry Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Center Point Cemetery. A memorial service will be held today at 1 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Scottsboro Funeral Home.
Ret went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at his home.
He was a member and employee of Asbury United Methodist Church in Madison and a graduate of Austin High School.
Survivors include his father, Ray Thompson of Scottsboro; mother, Pam Arnold of Athens; brother, Will Thompson of Scottsboro; stepfather, Rob Arnold of Athens; two step brothers, Cole Arnold and Cody Arnold, both of Athens; grandparents, Rufus and June Thompson and Willie and Pat Lacks, all of Scottsboro; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
