Elkmont takes three sets from Ardmore

ELKMONT – Elkmont took three sets to pick up a win over Ardmore Thursday afternoon, but the Tigers didn’t make it easy.

The Red Devils won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-21, but Ardmore battled back to take the next two sets 25-21 and 25-22.

In the fifth and decisive set, Elkmont jumped out to an 8-2 lead early behind two aces from Brooke Pressnell and a kill by Jamie Lack.

The Red Devils went on a 4-0 run late in the set to take a 14-5 lead with Autumn Bailey and Bailee Robison each recording aces for Elkmont.

Ardmore scored the next two points, but Elkmont took the set and match with a score of 15-7.

Elkmont will travel to West Morgan to play in the West Morgan Invitational.

Ardmore’s next match is Tuesday at West Limestone.



Athens Bible defeats Clements

Athens Bible swept Clements in three sets with scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-21.

Kirsten McClure led the No. 3 ranked Trojans with 28 assists.

Abbie Melvin recorded 16 kills in the winning effort, while Christina Ivey added eight kills and Hannah Owen recorded five kills and a dig. Both Athens Bible and Clements will play at West Morgan Saturday.
