COLBERT HEIGHTS — West Limestone played with Colbert Heights for a half Friday night, but the home team scored four touchdowns in the third quarter and went on to win 49-14.

Wildcats quarterback WesleyHughes scored two touchdowns and a two-point conversion in the second quarter to put West Limestone up 14-7, but Colbert Heights battled back and scored a late touchdown before the half to tie it up at intermission.

Hughes ran a 10 yard touchdown early in the quarter and scored again a little later on a 22 yard touchdown run.

Colbert Heights got a touchdown late in the half on a three yard pass from Jeremy Yates to Jacob Thorn. That seem to give the home team momentum going into the second half.

West Limestone’s Codey Rose caught a 50-yard pass in the game and the Wildcats rushed for 113 yards. But the defense gave up 433 yards to Colbert Heights.

West Limestone drops to 1-2 on the season and will host arch-rival Elkmont Friday night in another Class 3A, Region 8 contest.
