Grace Phillips Appleton

The funeral for Grace Phillips Appleton, 84, of Ardmore, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Dale Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Pettusville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Ms. Appleton died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at NHC Nursing in Pulaski, Tenn.



Kathryn Harrison Griggs

The funeral for Kathryn “Buck” Harrison Griggs, 89, of Elkmont, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McConnell Funeral Home with Bud White, Arvid McGuire and Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Ms. Griggs died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006.

She was born Oct. 28, 1916, in western Limestone County to David Franklin Harrison and Flossie Ethel Chapman Harrison. She was a lifelong member of Craig’s Chapel Church of Christ. She was a floral designer and retired on her 80th birthday from Athens Florist.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Griggs, son Patrick Corlette “Ricky” Griggs and one sister, Dorene H. Johnson Elders.

She is survived by one daughter Anniece G. Crew of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one sister, Bettye Louis Harrison of Athens; one niece, Nancy Jo Maples and husband Billy of Elkmont; one nephew, Bill Stinnett and wife Margaret of Athens and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dave Maples, Tommy Maples, Mark Pettitt, Ben Maples, Joseph Vann, Josh Maples, Will Maples and Tim Williams.



Kenneth Lloyd Payne

A graveside service for Kenneth Lloyd Payne, 92, of Hackleburg, will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Gatlin Cemetery with Tom Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Payne died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at his home.



James Gilbert Sibley

James Gilbert Sibley, 74, of Tuscumbia, died Monday Sept. 11, 2006. Visitation will be today from 10 am. to 11 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. His funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Mike Pope officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery, with a graveside service at 2:30 p.m.

Mr. Sibley was a native of Athens. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Munich, Germany, during the Korean War. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tuscumbia. He was an executive in the steel industry for more than 40 years, managed David Dry Goods in Tuscumbia for 10 years and was a member of the Tuscumbia Civitans. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert E. Sibley and uncle Aaron Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Danylu M. Sibley of Tuscumbia; daughters, Susan Ervin of Florence, Paige M. Sibley of Atlanta, Ga., Katie Gaylord and husband Mark of Bluffton, N.C.; grandchildren, Jamie Frost, Daniel Frost, Josef Ervin, Thorin Smith, Davis Gaylord, Abby Gaylord, and his sister-in-law, Ione B. Sibley.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Civitans of Tuscumbia.

He was a gentle, kind and loving husband, father and friend. Memorials may be made to Colbert Caring Center or Safeplace.
