Josephine Beasley

Josephine Elizabeth Stewart Beasley, 87, of Athens, Ala., beloved wife, sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, has died. She died peacefully after a short illness in Seminole, Fla., on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006.

Josephine was born May 15, 1919, in Troy, Miss., to Lottie Rose Stewart and Kelly Stewart. She came to Athens from Mississippi in 1938. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lawrence Horace Beasley Sr. She was a devoted and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Athens. She had many dear friends in Athens and was an avid bridge player.

Josephine is survived by two brothers, James C. Stewart and Joe Kelly Stewart; her sister, Loree Fontenot; her daughter, Marilyn Whidden; her son, Lawrence H. Beasley Jr.; grandchildren Bradley M. Beasley, Lawrence H. Beasley III, James Henry Beasley, Anne Kathryn Holmes nee Beasley, Paul R. Spradlin and David L. Spradlin, as well as great-grandchildren Grace Josephine Beasley, Bradley Michael Beasley Jr., Griffin M. Beasley, Lawrence H. Beasley IV, Connor M. Beasley, Victoria J. Spradlin, Brian L. Spradlin, Isaiah D. Spradlin and Audrey L. Spradlin.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Athens Cemetery on Sept. 16, 2006.

Sarah Webster Cribbs

Funeral for Sarah Webster Cribbs, 63, of Harvest, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Spry Funeral Home with Norm Webb and Everett Conn officiating. Burial will be in Fowlkes Cemetery at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Cribbs died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital.

She was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Limestone County. She was retired from Food World and was a member of Capshaw Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Cribbs of Harvest; two daughters, Sonya Biggerstaff of Athens and Shannon Biggerstaff of Toney; one son, Gregory Biggerstaff, serving in the Army; one stepdaughter, Gina Kennedy of Huntsville; one stepson, Jim Cribbs of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Matthew Biggerstaff, Jackson Biggerstaff, Blake Peters and Ashley Peters; one great-granddaughter, Strawberry Biggerstaff; four brothers, John Webster, Charles Webster, Clifford Webster and David Webster, all of Athens.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Webster, and one sister, Katherine Parvin.

Pallbearers will be Charles Webster, David Nunley, Mack Cribbs, Michael Kennedy, Blake Peters, Kenny Webster and Granville Cribbs.



Sandra Gail Gray

Funeral for Sandra Gail Gray, 59, of Elkmont, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lebanon Community Church with Terry Lamar officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home and for one hour before the service Thursday in the church.

Mrs. Gray died at home Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006. She was a member of Lebanon Community Church and retired from South Central Bell Telephone Co.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Gray; two sons, Stephen Pinkerton of Elkmont and Brian Pinkerton of Athens; one daughter, Lori Appleton of Elkmont; two stepsons, Michael Gray and Christopher Gray, both of Athens; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Robinson of Elkmont; her mother, Miladean Slaughter of Elkmont; six grandsons; five granddaughters; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Carol Evans of Elkmont; and one nephew, Eric Evans of Athens.

She was preceded in death by her father, H.H. Denman, and her grandson, Neil Pinkerton.

Pallbearers will be Jason Wooldridge, Jason Morris, Wayne Garris, David Holladay, Mike Ezell and Royce Evans.



Kathryn Griggs

Services for Kathryn Griggs, 89, of Elkmont, who died at home Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, will be announced by McConnell Funeral Home.
