Melvin, McClure guide Trojans to first area win at R.A. Hubbard

COURTLAND – Athens Bible got off to a good start in area play by taking two matches at R.A. Hubbard Tuesday afternoon.
The No. 3 ranked Trojans beat the Chiefs with scores of 25-8 and 25-15 in the first match and 25-12 and 25-8 in the second.
Kirsten McClure led all players in assists with 19 for Athens Bible (15-2).
She also recorded six aces on the day.
Complementing McClure was Abbie Melvin, with 18 kills, seven aces and three blocks.
Hannah Owen added five assists and four kills for the Trojans, while Christina Ivey added 13 kills and four aces and Katie Eubanks recorded eight assists.
Athens Bible continues area play Thursday afternoon at Mount Hope.
East Limestone 3,
Tanner 0
East Limestone warmed up for area play Monday afternoon by taking three sets at Tanner with scores of 25-14, 25-9 and 25-14.
Erin Fudge led the Indians in assists with 16. She also added two kills, three digs and an ace.
Edrea Danielly recorded 10 kills and a dig for East Limestone, while Rachel Stander added five kills and five digs, Carly Rhodes five kills, two digs and an ace, Bess Rhodes six assists and two kills and Morgan Franks three aces, a kill and a dig.
East Limestone (20-5) continues area play Thursday night at Madison County.
