Church members appreciate support of Laxson
Dear Editor:
Salem United Methodist Church would like to thank all those who made the Heath Laxson Benefit such a success. Thank you to all the groups that performed, businesses that donated to the silent auction, those who helped prepare the fish dinner and those who donated to the benefit in any way. We are so fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community.
Sincerely,
Tina Smith, treasurer
Salem United Methodist Church
Thanks for bringing a smile to so many
Dear Editor:
Reading Sound Off, I too have to commend the First Baptist Church women for entertaining the residents of the nursing home. Sue Clark met with a few of these women, giving them a few tips that she uses with the Merry Notes of First United Methodist Church.
They have performed at many nursing homes and manors in Decatur, Athens, Huntsville and many other places for the past 14 years. I volunteer at many places, and have seen them perform many, many times and enjoy them as much as the people they are entertaining. Sue and her dedicated women should also be commended because they have given so much joy and so many smiles to so many for these many years.
I would be in the Merry Notes, but I am not old enough.
May all of these caring women of both groups be blessed for their wonderful ministry for bringing joy to the many that need a lift and smile every now and then. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lorraine Bryan
