Eleven people were arrested late Thursday night when drug officers from Athens and Limestone County raided three city and county homes.

“We have been watching some of these homes and we knew there was illegal drug activity going on,” said Athens-Limestone drug enforcement officer Johnny Morrell. “We had three people to run on us, but we chased them down.”

Among those arrested were a mother and son who were taken into custody at their home off Seven Mile Post Road and two sets of brothers.

Eight people were taken into custody when officers raided a home at 811 Brownsferry Street. Morrell said police believe those in attendance were there for a “drug party.”

“We arrested several people for loitering because they were inside inside a drug house,” Morrell said.

Arrested were Alisha Lynn Caldarone, 20, of 710 Clinton Street, Apt. 317, Athens, charged with loitering; Deangelo Antwan Coffman, 20, of 811 Brownsferry Street, Athens, possession of controlled substance, resisting arrest and two counts of probation violation; his brother, Tavoras Antwan Coffman, 21, of 811 Brownsferry Street, Athens, two counts of possession of controlled substance and resisting arrest; Eric Rashawn Goble, 18, of 13443 Shaw Road, Athens, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; his mother, Melissa Regina Goble, 38, of 13041 Nicole Way, Apt. 37, Athens, two counts of possession of controlled substance, second-degree illegal possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia; Eric James Hunter, 19, of 304 South Hines Street, Athens, loitering; Travis Wendell Nelson, 37, of 2106 Luke Street, Athens, loitering; Nathan L. Roberts, 30, of 23733 Pressnell Road, Athens, loitering; Tavoris Busch Roberts, 22, of 23733 Pressnell Road, Athens, loitering and possession of controlled substance; Lydia Gail Sawyers, 21, of 16931 Menefee Road, Athens, loitering; Marvin Douglas Shoulders, 26, of 14245 Lucas Ferry Road, Athens, trafficking in cocaine and possession of controlled substance.

Morrell said officers seized crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the raids.

He said when officers arrived at the Gobles’ duplex apartment on Nicole Way they found Eric Goble sitting on the front porch and his mother, Melissa, sitting inside on the sofa.

“When we got inside we found crack cocaine on the coffee table next to her and pills and other drug stuff including scales in her bedroom. She claimed that she didn’t know anything about it, but it’s hard not to know when it is right there with you.”

The Coffmans and Tavoris Roberts fled when officers raided the home on Brownsferry Street. But Morell said officers were able to chase them down on foot and found the drugs they threw away while running.
