A shot was fired into an East Limestone County business sometime between Sunday and Monday, county authorities said Thursday.
Capt. Stanley McNatt said a bullet was fired through a window at Jimmy’s Furniture on U.S. 72 East. He said investigators found a bullet fragment lodged in a chair inside the store.
“We don’t know where it came from or who might have fired it into the business,” McNatt said. “We are still investigating.”
McNatt said investigators believe the shot was fired between 6 p.m. Sunday and 2 a.m. Monday. He said a county deputy patrolling the area this past weekend found that the glass had been shot and reported it to investigators.
“We don’t know if it was a drive-by shooting or whether someone just walked up to the glass and fired a shot,” McNatt said.
No one was inside the business at the time, authorities said.
