Marvin Jefferson McCowan

A graveside service for Marvin Jefferson McCowan, 81, of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bottoms Cemetery with Curtis Usery officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Mr. McCowan died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

He was born June 25, 1925, in Limestone County to James Wiley McCowan and Ethel Olivia Yarbrough. He was a Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his son, Roger McCowan, four sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by four sisters, Myrtice Emberton of Arkansas, Reba Emberton of Arkansas, Ruth Adams of Athens and Betty Jane Johnson of Athens; one brother, James L. McCowan of Elkmont; one granddaughter, Audra McCowan of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.
