Friends of Ternell Gilbert have established a fund at First American Bank to help defray funeral costs for his wife and daughter, according to Sandy Russell, who is coordinating the fund.

Selina C. Gilbert, 37, and Tiara S. Gilbert, 18, both of 15810 Hardy Road, Athens, were killed in a Tuesday accident on U.S. 72 West, according to Limestone County Assistant Coroner Andy Jackson. Friends say that Tiara Gilbert was several months pregnant.

Witnesses at the scene of the wreck speculated that the Gilbert vehicle hydroplaned during a thunderstorm at about 2 p.m. and hit a truck head on.

“If you feel led to help them, please stop by First American and have funds deposited to the Gilbert Family Fund,” said Russell.

Checks made payable to the Gilbert Family Fund may also be mailed to: Sandy Russell, 11369 McCormack Road, Athens, AL 35611.
