Leona Dixon Butler
Funeral services for Leona “Aunt Sis” Dixon Butler, 87, of Ardmore, Tenn., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with the Reverend Sammy Brister officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Butler died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville.
She was born Sept. 26, 1918, in Madison County to Mathew Dixon and Callie Parker Dixon. She lived all of her life in this area. She was a member of Ardmore First Baptist Church where she was very involved. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Sapphires Chapter. She will be sorely missed at Sunbridge where she was an inspiration to all.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Derrel Butler and Robert Thomas, one sister, Evelyn Daly and five brothers, Rufus, A.D., Noah, Cleo and Buford Dixon.
She is survived by two sisters, Kathryn Rozell of Pulaski, Tenn., and Dorothy Wilburn of Ardmore as well as a special family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Terry Rozell, Timmy Swinford, Andy Swinford, Sandy Hardiman, Elliott Weles, Sam Reyer and Jim Steele.
