Athens police said a Hispanic male told investigators this weekend that a man tried to rob him twice in the same day.
Capt. Marty Bruce said the victim told detectives that at 6:05 a.m. Saturday a man who he described as being 6 feet, weighing approximately 150 pounds, came up to him at Lincoln Bridgeforth Park on the city’s west side, pulled a knife and demanded $20.
“The victim responded by saying he didn’t have any money. He said the man then left, only to return a little later. He then pulled a handgun on the victim again demanding money,” Bruce said. “The victim said that is when he took off running to the top of the hill in the park where there were some witnesses and the gunman walked off.”
