Hallman T. Johnson
Hallman T. Johnson, 81, of Madison, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006. He was born Jan. 30, 1925.
For the last eight years, Mr. Johnson served as chaplain for the North Alabama Wing, Alabama Chapter, 8th Air Force Historical Society. He was a World War II D-Day veteran and a member of the Wing Speakers who spoke to many teachers and students, going into classrooms and also at the Veterans Memorial Museum. He also served as state chaplain for the Alabama American Legion, was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0046, and the Masonic Dwight Lodge No. 550. Mr. Johnson, a retired motion picture photographer for NASA, served as deacon and Sunday School director for Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lorena Johnson; a brother, Milton Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ron Madison officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
The following World War II veterans and members of the North Alabama Wing, Alabama Chapter, 8th Air Force Historical Society will serve as pallbearers: Gabe Chiri, Doug Garner, Wesley Mitchell, Bill Varnedoe, Harold McMurran, Tom Mullin, Howard Polin, Bob Beauchamp, Russell Kerl and Marion Gibson. An Amercian flag will be presented by Mr. Johnson’s great-nephew, Capt. Gary W. Brock Jr.
Memorials may be made to the World War II Veterans Museum, the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, or the American Lung Association.
Pat Moon McCune
The funeral service for Pat Moon McCune, 51, of Ardmore, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Spry Funeral Home with James Oliver officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8.
Mrs. McCune died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital
