East, Ardmore win county golf

Taylor Garrett took medalist honors with a 1-under par 71, Tuesday, to lead East Limestone to the Limestone County Boys Golf Championship with an 18-stroke margin over second place West Limestone and Clements at the Canebrake Golf Club.
The Indians shot a team score of 322, followed by the Wildcats and the Colts at 340. Ardmore was next at 353. Tanner shot 405 and Elkmont 432.
Ardmore, behind the medalist play of Ashlee Beck, took the first-ever Limestone County Girls Championship with a team score of 145 in the nine-hole event. Elkmont was next at 171, followed by East Limestone at 174.
Joining Garrett on the all-county team were: Logan Pressnell of West Limestone (74), Levi Gordon of Clements (74), Ethan Pressnell of West Limestone (77) and Aaron Romine of Clements (77).
Beck won the girls’ tournament with a 9-over par 45. Whitney McAllister, Ardmore (49); Caitlin McDonald; Ardmore (51), Michelle Jones, Tanner (52); and Meighan Adams, East Limestone (54).
Next up for area teams are the AHSAA Sectional Tournaments, which begin next Tuesday.
Class 4A Boys for Ardmore and East Limestone (May 2) at Deer Run in Moulton.
Class 1A-2A is Wednesday (May 3) at Southern Gayles in Athens.
Girls sectional, for all classes, is Thursday (May 4) at Canebrake.
