The thing most known about East Limestone senior Bee Medley is the work she does on the mound for the Lady Indians’ softball team.

But Medley is formidable at the plate as well.

Saturday night, she drove in four runs with a single and a pair of infield outs as the Lady Indians advanced to the final of the Limestone County Varsity Softball Tournament with a 10-1 win over West Limestone in the semifinals at Tanner High’s Sims-Stacey Field.

Medley also tossed three innings of one-hit ball on the mound, striking out four, walking one and allowing no runs.

At the plate, she got plenty of help.

The Lady Indians (33-11) awaited the survivor from the losers’ bracket for a championship-round matchup late Saturday night.

Tanner, Elkmont and West remained in the elimination bracket of the tournament.

In the first inning, Mallory Scott walked to start the game.

Pepper bunted to try and move Scott to second, but West Limestone pitcher Ashley Blankenship threw the ball into the runner going to first, who deflected the ball down the right-field line.

Scott raced all the way around from first to score, and Pepper got all the way to third base on the play. Medley’s ground out scored Pepper to give East a 2-0 lead.

Medley had another RBI ground out in the third inning.

Scott led off with a double to the right-center field gap. After a sacrifice bunt moved Scott to third, Medley ground out to shortstop got her home.

Walks to Shannon Bowling and Morgan Franks, sandwiched around a base hit by Laura Tittsworth loaded the bases. Turner cleared them with a three-run double down the left-field line.

West finally got on board in the fourth inning when Harrison led off with a single, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Dana Springer’s ground out.

Medley had a two-run single. Franks had a run-scoring single, and Tittsworth drove in a run with a ground out in a four-run fourth inning for East.
