Lady Tigers cruise over Lady Trojans

Steadman struck out nine and walked one in the complete-game effort for Ardmore (26-13 overall). Heather Houghton gave up eight hits and eight runs, while striking out one for ABS.
Amy Collier had two singles and drove in three runs for Ardmore. Shannon Fogg also had two singles. Steadman added a double in the 12-hit attack for the Lady Tigers.
Emily Cathey’s double was the only hit for ABS.
East Limestone 10,
Clements 1
Laura Tittsworth had four hits to highlight a 14-hit attack and drove in three runs to lead the Lady Indians a high school softball win on the road.
Morgan Franks added a pair of doubles and also drove in four runs. Chelsea Turner and Jyssica Pepper had two singles each, and Shannon Bowling had a double.
Bee Medley got the win, striking out nine and giving up four hits and one run over four innings. Morgan Franks pitched the final three innings, striking out three, walking one and allowing no hits.
Hartselle 5, Athens 4
The visiting Tigers scored four runs in their final two at-bats to spoil Athens High’s shot at a perfect season in Class 5A, Area 16, with a one-run win over the Lady Eagles.
Kristina Prater had a pair of singles for Athens (39-11), which out-hit Hartselle 8-5.
Lacy Kerr gave up five hits and four runs, two of them earned, in 5 /3 innings. She walked one and struck out three. Whitney Hawkins allowed three hits and one earned run over the final 1 2/3 innings and took the loss.
Golf
East Limestone 155,
Ardmore 180, Elkmont 204
Brandon Holt fired a 1-under par score of 35 over nine holes to lead East Limestone to a tri-match win over Ardmore and Elkmont at Canebrake Golf Club.
Scott Garrett added an even-par 36 for the Indians. Alex Griffin was the low man for Ardmore at 41, while Caleb Black shot 46 for Elkmont.
Scottsboro 311, Athens 314
SCOTTSBORO — For the second time in a week, the Wildcats earned a 3-shot win over the Golden Eagles, this time at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro.
Derrick Nicholson and Joe Higginbotham each shot 5-over 77 to lead the Golden Eagles. Will Morrow came in at 71, Garrett Stafford shot 81 and Evan Wellden shot 85.
The Golden Eagles also lost to the Wildcats by three shots at the Athens Invitational last week at The Canebrake Golf Club.
Baseball
Tanner 11, Danville 6
DANVILLE – Brandon Gist and Shane Dempsey had three hits and drove in three runs each to help Tanner to an 11-6 high school baseball win on the road at Danville.
The Rattlers (14-9) trailed 5-2 in the fourth inning, but put up five runs in the fourth and six in the sixth to win going away.
Clay McMeans had four strike outs over the first 3 2/3 innings. Dempsey struck out four more over the final 3 1/3.
