Calhoun splits with Wallace

Matt Montgomery had three hits Tuesday to lead the Calhoun Warhawks to an 11-10 win over Wallace State-Hanceville in the opening game of a ACCC North Division doubleheader at home.

Wallace came back to bomb the Warhawks (36-7 overall, 14-3 in division) 12-1 in the nightcap.

In the opener, Montgomery had a RBI-double in the fourth inning and scored two runs. Carl Gibbs had two hits, including a triple. Chris Law doubled in two runs.

David Ellis, Jay Sively and Tyler Ramsey combined on the mound.

Former West Limestone standout Corey Looney and Warren Martin had the only hits for Calhoun in the second game. Martin had a double. Kevin Weidenbacher had the Warhawks’ only RBI.
