Members named to local Parks, Rec board

The Limestone County Commission appointed three new members to the Limestone County Parks and Recreation Board Monday.

Former Limestone County schools administrator John Witt, Athens businessman Carl Hunt and county resident Jason Black will serve four years on the board, from April 17 this year to April 19, 2010.

Witt replaces Tony Graviet, Hunt replaces Marsha Sloss, and Black replaces Randy Moore on the board.

In other action Monday, the commission approved the following:

• Out of state travel for Rodney Jackson and Sonya Anthony to Nashville, Tenn. They will use county vehicles to attend Cabinet NG software training April 26-28.

• A senior workers project /host agency agreement with TARCOG.

• Rejected video surveillance and products rental service bids because those bids exceeded budget.

• Family medical leave for county employees Billy Stovall, Frank Sandefer and James. M. Hardiman.

• Amended job description for the new CIS director position at the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department to include law enforcement duties.

• Employment of Angela Olive as the Athens Center manager for the Limestone Council on Aging.

• Wyngate Subdivision in District 2 at Alabama 251, south of Thach Road.

• Bay Hill Villas Garages in District 3 at Snake Road, north of the Villas at Bay Hill Phase III.

• A 35 mph speed limit on Grigsby Ferry Road and Sammy Lane.
