Eagles swept in DH by Tigers

TUSCUMBIA – Kyle Chronister and Michael Conn had two hits each, but Deshler used a seven-run sixth inning to pull away for a 10-6 high school baseball win over Athens on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Tigers came back to win the second game 19-2.

Athens (3-35) scored five runs in the second inning and led Deshler 6-4 going to the sixth inning of the opener. Brad Reasonover, who came on in the fifth inning, allowed seven runs in the sixth.

Brandt Latimer allowed two runs over the first four innings.

In the second game, five Golden Eagles hitters had one hit each, including Chris Stewart and Drew Hill, both with doubles.

Brian Young gave up eight runs in two innings to take the loss.

The Golden Eagles are on the road the first part of next week, visiting Huntsville on Monday and Hartselle on Tuesday.
