John Phillip Landers
The funeral for John Phillip Landers, 85, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. today at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Warren Glass and Casey Harbin officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Landers died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at home.
He was a soldier in the Army and Air Force during World War II and a retired 30-year veteran of the Army and Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Isom Landers; one brother, Mack Landers; two sisters, Mamie Sfero of Madison and Naomi Turner of Gadsden; a special nephew, Gordon Landman of Harvest; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wes Isom, Bobby Walker, Gil Towery, Curry Turner, Kent Isom and Jerry Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Menefee, JeromeWagnon, Lee Isom, Kelly Rich, J.R. Thompson, Joe Isom and James Isom.
Memorial may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

William Archie “Bill” Steele, 60, died April 12, 2006, at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa.
A native of Athens, he attended Athens City Schools, Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tenn., Athens State University, and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He was employed by the university, and retired from there after 25 years of service.
He was an accomplished musician and used his talents both in religious and civic endeavors during his career.
He is survived by one son, William David Steele of Tuscaloosa; his mother, Louise Steele of Athens; two sisters, Amy Steele of Athens and Wynkie Plunk of Durango, Colo.; and one nephew, Jason Nunley of Athens.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Athens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Athens or a favorite charity.
McConnell Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
