Brian Weaver, 38, of 19454 Yarbrough Road, Athens, has qualified to seek the District 6 seat on the Limestone County Board of Education.
Weaver, a political newcomer, is seeking the office as a Democrat. District 6 is now held by Roger Whitt who apparently is not seeking re-election.
“My main focus will be the welfare of the children and to get them the best education possible,” said Weaver, who is employed as a quality control technician at CoilPlus in Athens.
Weaver and his wife, Anita, a teacher at Piney Chapel Elementary, have two children, a 12-year-old who attends Elkmont and an 8-year-old who attends Piney Chapel.
Weaver graduated from West Limestone High School in 1985 and Calhoun Community College in 2004 with a degree in business and quality control.
The primary election is June 6.
