The News Courier will publish, free of charge, death notices including the name, age and city of residence of the deceased, date and place of death, and time and place of funeral services and visitation.

Family members now may express themselves in a eulogy, list survivors and give detailed biographical information about the deceased in a paid obituary. The News Courier will accept these paid items from the family, funeral directors, or other individuals. Paid obituaries may include a photo at no extra charge.

If a published obituary contains an error, The News Courier will reprint a corrected obituary at no charge, provided the error was ours. The News Courier does not issue refunds on obituary announcements.

Marjorie Foree Longshore

The funeral for Marjorie Foree Longshore, 74, of Muscle Shoals, formerly of Decatur, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Longshore died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Muscle Shoals.



Bradley Miles Swanner

The funeral for Bradley “Brad” Miles Swanner, 35, of Decatur, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Dusty McLemore and Bro. Bobby Marks officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Swanner died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Decatur.

He was a member of Nebo Presbyterian Church and was employed as a warehouse operator for Daikin America of Decatur for the past 10 years. He was a 1989 graduate of Tanner High School and a 1994 graduate of the University of Montevallo.

He is survived by his wife, Christy Oliver-Swanner of Decatur; a son, Jayson “Luke” Swanner of Decatur; a daughter, Georgia Miles Swanner of Decatur; his parents, Hershal and Nancy Swanner of Athens; a sister, Heather Baker of Athens; a brother, Bryant Swanner of Athens; a niece, Addie Baker of Athens; and three nephews, Logan Oliver, Jordan Oliver and Jakob Oliver, all of Moulton.

Pallbearers will be Jason Henley, Todd Bomar, Brad Tidwell, Don Bowling, Mark Swanner and Mike Swanner. Honorary pallbearer is Trevor Owens.

Memorials may be made to the Rip Swanner Scholarship Fund at Tanner High School.
