Billy Joe Lovell
The graveside service tor Billy Joe Lovell, 58, of Athens will be today at 1 p.m. at Sardis Springs Baptist Cemetery with Bro. Tim Keenum and Bro. Calvin Inman officiating, and McConnell Funer-al Home directing.
Mr. Lovell died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1947, in Limestone County to Marvin Lovell and Ruby Jackson Lovell. He was employed by Athens City Schools for 14 years and pre-viously employed by Wahchang of Madi-son. He had a special caring for physical-ly and mentally challenged children. He was a loving husband, father and Paw-Paw. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lovell; a son, Tony J. Lovell of Athens: a daughter, Tracey Cox and husband Jeff of Athens; four grandchildren, Keri and Morgan Cox and Jon and Krysti Lovell; three brothers, Thomas Lovell of Elkmont, Douglas Lovell of Prospect, Tenn., and Gerald Lovell of Harvest; two sis-ters, Shirley Miller of Athens and Carolyn Adams of Harvest; one uncle, Joe Jackson of Somerville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Glen Lovell, Robbie Miller, Mark Miller, Ricky Adams, Darrell Long and Paul King.
Douglas Legg
The funeral for Douglas Legg, 64, of Decatur, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Cyphers and the Rev. Thomas Elder officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Morgan County with Peck Funeral Home directing.
The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
Mr. Legg died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Decatur General Hospital.
He was born Sept 18, 1941, in Morgan County to Earl Legg and Zola Mae Mar-tin Legg. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and he attended Decatur Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Emily Hope Legg; and one brother, Charles Wayne Legg.
Survivors include three daughters, Danica Hicks and husband Tony, and Lani Collier and husband Tracy, all of Athens; and Amanda McKee and hus-band Chuck, of Decatur; one sister, Josephine Terry of Decatur: and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Hopper, Ju-nior Vaughn, David Clemons, Bobby Ter-ry, Johnny McAbee and Matt Legg.
Betty Jo Privett
The funeral for Betty Jo Privett, 90, of Athens, will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Privett died Friday, March 24, 2006, at Limestone Health Facility.
She was a member of Tanner Church of Christ and a homemaker. She was pre-ceded in death by her husband, Litt “Bud” Privett, and six brothers and sis-ters.
Survivors include five sons, George Privett of Mingus, Texas, Charles Privett and Aubry Privett, both of Athens, Bill Privett of Arab and Don Privett of Decatur; two brothers, Charles Olen McMeans of Athens and Oscar McMeans of Hammond, Ind.; three sisters, Verna Perry of Athens, Ruth Karr of Hluntsville, and Merle Thompson of Athens: 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews-Pallbearers will be Phillip Privett. Bri-an Privett, Greg Privett, Jeff Thompson, Keith Privett and Chrystal Privett.
