Lois B. Brown

The funeral for Lois B. Brown, 97, of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. today at Oak Park Church of God with the Rev. Carl Maynard and the Rev. Hollis Lacey officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Brown died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Feb. 13, 1909, in Lawrence County, to William Borden and Arie Pillar Borden.

She is survived by five sons, James Ray Brown and his wife Carolyn of Athens; J.D. Brown and his wife Gwendolyn of Barton; Jerry Brown of Elkmont; Kenneth Brown and his wife Linda and Larry Brown, all of Rogersville; one daughter, Mavis Daley of Decatur; two brothers, Roy Borden and his wife Avalene and Thurston Borden, all of Decatur; one sister, Addie Marie Bivens and her husband Homer of Barton; 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.



John Ruby “Rube” Wallace

The funeral for John Ruby “Rube” Wallace, 83, of Athens, will be at 1 p.m. today at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Sammy Brister officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore.

Mr. Wallace died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Sunbridge Care Center in Ardmore, Tenn.

He was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Ardmore to Ivan and Mae (Blossom) Wallace. He was a proud World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He loved his family and friends and taking care of his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Roberta “Birdie” Claunch Wallace.

He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
