The News-Courier will publish, free of charge, death notices including the name, age and city of residence of the deceased, date and place of death, and time and place of funeral services and visitation.

Family members now may express themselves in a eulogy, list survivors and give detailed biographical information about the deceased in a paid obituary. The News-Courier will accept these paid items from the family, funeral directors, or other individuals. Paid obituaries may include a photo at no extra charge.

If a published obituary contains an error, The News-Courier will reprint a corrected obituary at no charge, provided the error was ours. The News-Courier does not issue refunds on obituary announcements.

Sandra Lynn Gilbert

The funeral for Sandra Lynn Gilbert, 32, was held Tuesday at Peoples Funeral Home with Arthur Hullett, Harold Wells and Sylvester Malone officiating. Burial was in Houston Cemetery in Tanner.

Ms. Gilbert died Thursday, March 2, 2006, in Decatur.



Minnie Lee Murrah

The funeral for Minnie Lee Murrah, 87,of Rogersville, will be at 2 p.m., Friday, at Spry Funeral Home with Carl Long officiating. Burial will be in Civitan Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Friday.

Ms. Murrah died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

She was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Limestone County. She was a member of Rogersville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Ora Lee Grisham Murrah; three brothers, Claude Murrah Jr., Lester Murrah and Milton Murrah; and two sisters, Edna Merle Ball and Verona Jasper.

She is survived by a sister, Catherine Spry of Rogersville; a brother, Frank Murrah of Rogersville; a special niece, Judy Steuber and husband, Harry, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and several other nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Rogersville United Methodist Church Building Fund or a favorite charity.
